May 11, 1863: Tehachapi Creek
May 11, 2013
[Today] we kept on in a general northerly direction over a terribly rough trail, over mountains and across canyons. From some of the heights we had magnificent views. We worked west nearly to the great valley, then struck east again and camped in a wild picturesque spot on Pass Creek1. With my revolver I shot a hare, which made us a supper and breakfast.
