[Today] was still cold. We rode down the canyon about five miles to see a “copper lead”—found it no copper at all worth noting. A fierce snowstorm set in, so we returned to camp and there spent the rest of the cheerless, comfortless day. The squalls came on every little while. The stormy day was followed by a cold night.
